The Play Your Part Awards recognise initiatives that promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. Across Australia there are many organisations and individuals who are working towards creating a safer, healthier and happier environment for children. NAPCAN is seeking to recognise their efforts but we need your help in finding these initiatives.
Initiatives which reduce children’s risk of experiencing abuse and neglect are not always easy to identify but are the kinds of activities which contribute to keeping kids safe and providing them with communities in which they can thrive. These can be things like: a playgroup which actively promotes involving dads and grandparents in caring for kids; a free sports group organised by parents and/or teachers to keep young people engaged in positive activities during after-school hours; or successfully implementing child safe organisation principles and safeguards across an organisation. These primary prevention activities encourage positive supports for children, young people and their families to increase the likelihood of children growing up safe and well.
Through showcasing the inspiring stories behind the Play Your Part Awards, NAPCAN hopes to encourage more individuals, organisations and communities to play their part in keeping children safe. Nominations are encouraged for small and large initiatives that are making a difference!
